HLA-B*27
The HLA-B*27 kit is an in vitro diagnostic test for determination of the presence of HLA-B*27 allele, by Real-Time PCR.
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS), a chronic inflammatory disease, is strongly associated with the HLA-B27 antigen. This association was first described in 1973 and is the largest genetic factor contributing to the disease.
The identification of the HLA-B*27 alleles is relevant in the clinical follow-up, diagnosis, and treatment of AS.
