quanty BK
The quanty BK virus system is an in vitro diagnostic test for identification and quantification of the VP-1 region of BK virus genome by Real-Time PCR.
BK virus associated diseases (nephropathy, ureteral stenosis, hemorrhagic cystitis) are detected in immunocompromised patients who had renal transplantation or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, although BKV can occur also in a low percentage of asymptomatic immunocompetent individuals. BK virus detection and quantification by Real-Time PCR is essential to quickly set up an appropriate antiviral treatment and prevent serious complications.
